I've Really Missed Rhonda

August 15, 2016 by Nicole Rohr Lewis

Here's the best part of having a blog... You can take a 4 month sabbatical and still have a blog. Because I think you can just declare that you have a blog.

The thing I love most about Algonquin is meeting people and actually getting to know them. One of my favorite people is Rhonda. She is on the top-ten most important people in Algonquin. Monday through Friday she picks my daughter up and safely delivers her to school. Most days I tear up when they pull away. Seriously.

In the spirit of the humans of Algonquin, I am hoping to interview a new local every month. I want to meet you. Or someone you think I should know. Email me, thealgonquingeneral@gmail.com.

Rhonda Flannigan (now known as RF throughout interview), Algonquin, IL

TAG: How long have you lived in Algonquin, IL?

RF: I have lived in Algonquin about 30 years.

TAG: What do you love most about Algonquin?

RF: I love Algonquin's bike trails and parks.

TAG: Favorite breakfast in Algonquin?

RF: My favorite breakfast is Eggs Benedict at Burnt Toast. (If I can't get my son to make it.)

TAG: Where would you like to go that you have never been?

RF: I would love to travel to Ireland someday.

TAG: What would make Algonquin better?

RF: Algonquin would be better if there was less traffic cutting through residential streets instead of using the bypass. I worry about the kids that ride my bus, with all the speeding cars.

TAG: What would you like people to know about Algonquin?

RF: I would tell people that Algonquin is a nice small town with good restaurants and shopping, and a lot of community events to keep everyone busy.

TAG: Favorite memories of Algonquin?

RF: My favorite memories of Algonquin are watching, not only my own children, but all of the children that have been on my bus over the last 28 years grow up.

TAG: Cubs or Sox?

RF: If those are my only choices I say Sox. But I am actually a St. Louis Cardinals fan. However, I love the Blackhawks.

TAG: Advice for kids?

RF: With kids you greet them with a smile, be fair and consistent, acknowledge when they do a good job, and let them pick their own assigned seat on the bus.

Ireland is amazing Rhonda. You know I agree about the traffic in downtown Algonquin... Oh yeah, and Go Cubs Go!
